Jamie Oliver 5 Ingredients Meatballs

Jamie Oliver 5 Ingredients Meatballs

Jamie Oliver’s 5 ingredients meatballs are a simplified version of classic meatballs, made using minimal ingredients like ground meat, seasoning, and a sauce, focusing on technique to deliver maximum flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
    • 500g ground beef or mixed mince

    • 1 egg

    • 50g breadcrumbs

    • 1 jar (or 400g) tomato sauce

    • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Optional additions (for extra flavor if desired):

    • Garlic or onion

    • Fresh herbs

    • Parmesan cheese

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Meat Mixture

In a large bowl, combine ground meat, egg, and breadcrumbs. Season with salt and pepper. Mix gently using your hands until just combined—this keeps the meatballs tender rather than tough.

Step 2: Shape the Meatballs

Roll the mixture into evenly sized balls, about the size of a golf ball. Uniform size ensures even cooking and a better final texture.

Step 3: Heat the Pan

Place a large pan on medium heat and add olive oil. Allow the oil to heat properly before adding the meatballs to ensure a good sear.

Step 4: Brown the Meatballs

Add the meatballs to the pan and cook until browned on all sides. Turn them gently so they hold their shape and develop a golden crust.

Step 5: Add the Sauce

Pour in the tomato sauce, making sure the meatballs are partially covered. Stir gently to coat them without breaking them apart.

Step 6: Simmer

Cover and let the meatballs simmer for 15–20 minutes. This allows them to cook through and absorb the flavor of the sauce.

Step 7: Finish and Serve

Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Serve hot with your choice of sides.
