The Jamie Oliver Crème Fraîche Lasagne is an oven-baked pasta dish where slow-cooked meat tomato sauce is layered with pasta sheets and crème fraîche instead of béchamel, creating a creamy yet fresh-tasting texture.

    • 912 lasagne sheets

    • 400 g minced beef

    • 1 onion (chopped)

    • 2 cloves garlic (minced)

    • 400 g canned chopped tomatoes

    • 2 tbsp tomato paste

    • 1 tsp dried oregano

    • 200 ml crème fraîche

    • 80 g grated mozzarella or cheddar

    • 2 tbsp olive oil

    • Salt and black pepper

Optional:

    • Fresh basil

    • Parmesan for topping

Instructions

Step 1: Cook the Meat Sauce

    1. Heat olive oil in a pan.

    1. Cook the onion 4 minutes until soft.

    1. Add garlic and cook 30 seconds.

    1. Add minced beef and brown well.

    1. Stir in tomato paste and oregano.

    1. Add chopped tomatoes and simmer 20 minutes.

The sauce should be thick, not watery.

Step 2: Prepare the Cream Layer

    1. Stir crème fraîche with a pinch of salt and pepper.

    1. Add a tablespoon water if very thick.

Spreadable consistency works best.

Step 3: Layer the Lasagne

    1. Spread thin layer of meat sauce in dish.

    1. Add pasta sheets.

    1. Add meat sauce.

    1. Spoon crème fraîche.

    1. Repeat layers.

Finish with crème fraîche and cheese on top.

Step 4: Bake

    1. Preheat oven to 180°C.

    1. Cover with foil and bake 25 minutes.

    1. Remove foil and bake 15–20 minutes more.

The top should turn golden and bubbly.

Step 5: Rest Before Serving

Let it rest 10 minutes so the layers set properly.
