Jamie Oliver’s chocolate orange pots are individual chilled desserts made with melted chocolate, cream, orange zest, and other simple ingredients, creating a smooth, mousse-like texture with a bright citrus finish.

For the Chocolate Orange Pots

    • 200g dark chocolate (60–70% cocoa)

    • 300ml double cream

    • 2 egg yolks

    • 2 tablespoons caster sugar

    • Zest of 1 large orange

    • 2 tablespoons fresh orange juice

    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

    • Pinch of sea salt

For Garnishing (Optional)

    • Orange zest

    • Chocolate shavings

    • Whipped cream

    • Cocoa powder

    • Candied orange peel

    • Fresh berries

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Chocolate

Finely chop the dark chocolate and place it into a large heatproof bowl. Smaller pieces melt faster and create a smoother mixture.

Step 2: Heat the Cream

Pour the cream into a saucepan and warm it gently over medium heat. Heat until steaming but not boiling.

Step 3: Melt the Chocolate

Pour the hot cream over the chopped chocolate. Leave for 1 minute, then stir until completely smooth and glossy.

Step 4: Whisk the Egg Yolks and Sugar

In a separate bowl, whisk the egg yolks and caster sugar until pale and slightly thickened.

Step 5: Add the Orange Flavours

Stir the orange zest, orange juice, vanilla extract, and sea salt into the chocolate mixture.

Step 6: Combine Everything Together

Slowly pour the chocolate mixture into the egg yolks while whisking continuously. This prevents the eggs from curdling.

Step 7: Mix Until Smooth

Continue whisking until the mixture becomes silky and fully combined.

Step 8: Fill the Dessert Pots

Divide the mixture evenly among six small ramekins, glasses, or serving pots.

Step 9: Chill Until Set

Place the pots in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours or overnight until firm and creamy.

Step 10: Garnish Before Serving

Decorate with orange zest, chocolate shavings, whipped cream, or candied orange peel just before serving.
