Instructions

Step 1: Preheat the Oven and Prepare Ingredients

Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Cut the chicken into evenly sized pieces and divide the broccoli into small florets so everything cooks uniformly.

Step 2: Cook the Broccoli Briefly

Boil or steam the broccoli for 3–4 minutes until just tender. This ensures it finishes perfectly in the oven without becoming overcooked.

Step 3: Sear the Chicken for Flavor

Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat and cook the chicken pieces until lightly golden on the outside. This step locks in flavor and improves texture.

Step 4: Build the Sauce Base

In the same pan, add garlic and cook briefly. Stir in flour if using, then gradually add cream or milk while stirring to create a smooth sauce.

Step 5: Add Cheese and Seasoning

Add grated cheese to the sauce and stir until melted. Season with salt, pepper, and optional mustard for extra depth.

Step 6: Assemble the Bake

Place chicken and broccoli in a baking dish, then pour the sauce over them. Mix gently so everything is evenly coated.

Step 7: Add Topping and Bake

Sprinkle extra cheese or breadcrumbs on top. Bake for 20–25 minutes until bubbling and golden.
