Jamie Oliver’s chocolate tiramisu is a layered dessert made with mascarpone cream, coffee-soaked sponge biscuits, and chocolate.
It combines the familiar structure of tiramisu with added cocoa and chocolate to create a richer, more comforting version of the classic.
Brew strong coffee and allow it to cool completely. This prevents the biscuits from becoming overly soggy while soaking.
In a bowl, whisk the mascarpone with icing sugar and vanilla until smooth. In a separate bowl, lightly whip the double cream until soft peaks form. Fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture, then gently fold in the melted chocolate until fully combined.
Quickly dip each sponge finger into the cooled coffee. Do not soak them for too long, as they will soften further as the tiramisu sets.
Arrange a layer of dipped biscuits in the base of a serving dish. Spread over a generous layer of chocolate mascarpone cream. Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with cream on top.
Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight if possible. Chilling allows the layers to set and the flavours to blend.
Just before serving, dust generously with cocoa powder and scatter over grated chocolate or shavings.
